Okkervil River: free show in Austin
It's frigid-cold here in London this afternoon. There's talk of snow, but I think that's wishful thinking given that the sky is mostly blue. Still, the crisp air has everyone bundled and looking very cozy indeed. In search of some theme music for the day - something earthy - I stumbled across the band, Okkervil River. I hate describing them as folk, because folk aint my thing. Let's instead call them acoustic-indie-rock.
They have a generous collection of mp3s available on their website. And for you Austinites in the audience, they're doing a free show at the Escapist Bookstore on February 4 ( I'll be in London seeing Cake at the Astoria!).
Also worth a peak is the Artwork of William Schaff, the artist who designed Okkervil River's album covers, among other things.
