This summer flew by SO fast - it was only last week that I realized that the Keep Austin Weird 5k was just around the corner. Indeed, the turn has arrived, and tomorrow at 5pm, I celebrate the anniversary of my running “career”!
It was this time last year that I ran the 2004 Keep Austin Weird 5k. It was my first 5k, nay, my first race EVAY! Since then I’ve done a handful of other 5k’s and a 10k. I never thought I could get “into” running, but here I am, a year later, still at it with more enthusiasm than before. I guess this means I’ve come a long way (probably more mentally so than physically) and I look forward to beating last year’s time (I hope I hope).
Of course, 5pm in an Austin summer is hot as balls and I might pass out under the oppressive sun. But it’ll be fun.
