sweet Georgia memories

I’m in Atlanta at the moment, waiting for the business part of this business trip to get started. As far as i can tell, this conference is all about *food*. I can’t believe I’m going to say this but I’m actually glad there are so few veggie options - i’d be liable to stuff myself silly, otherwise. The salad bar is fairly comprehensive, and even offers cottage cheese.

Being back in Georgia brings back some old memories from that sultry June of 2003 spent in Athens:

  • pints at the The Globe, the pub where I discovered Hoegaarden
  • the hours spent in that windowless computer lab
  • dorm life part deux (and I swore I’d never go back)
  • my peeps: Rommel, Phil, and Allison
  • the basketball court outside the dorm - I never shot any hoops there, but I did spend many approximately 2 10-minute-moments per day watching other people play while I smoked
  • that grossly skinny girl who bought 8 veggie burgers, a bag of chips and two cans of baked beans for a 20-person bbq
  • the chattahoochee river walk with the MIT dude and his rediculously oversized backpack
  • the guys playing video games in my dorm room (AGH)
  • “The Favorite” coffee shop
  • Wal-Mart: it owned that town, sad to say
  • athfest
  • junk in the trunk
  • even more pints at The Globe
  • R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix)”
  • “delicious”
  • Allison’s car with the crappy CD player
  • burninating the conjecture and other quotes inspired by strongbad
  • seeing Bridget Jones’ Diary for the very first time
  • a little knot theory here and there

Reflection is sweet, but finding new “moments” to share is even sweeter. I’m off to get me some of that… and a heavy dose of caffeine.
