Saturday Grillout

I love that Usenet is alive and well among Austin area residents. I was planning a bbq for Saturday, but by Friday I still didn’t have a grill. So I posted a message on austin.forsale: “WTB: Charcoal Grill”. Within an hour I was hooked up, for $15. What a deal.

The barby was a blast. We had music and food and weather to brag about. There’s nothin’ like a Saturday in Austin spent outside in the sun with cold beer and good people. Rachel brought a couple friends along, one of whom was English. We had the usual conversation about different phrases and pronunciations, and talked about Jaffa Cakes and Jacob’s Cream Crackers and STELLA Artois. This made me very nostalgic and horribly lonesome for London. But it was nice to hear a familiar, erm, accent.
